Today we’re featuring Abby and Andrew’s fun and flirtatious Philadelphia engagement session! They worked with the creative team – Cathie and Al from BG Productions Photography & Videography. We’re going to let Cathie tell you how their e-session unfolded. Cathie tells us, “What an incredible Cira Green Philly Engagement Session with Abby and Andrew. And I think the fact that it was raining made it even better! We were super psyched when Abigail and Andrew booked us to capture their amazing wedding coming up this September at Union Trust.” Read more and see their photos…

Philadelphia Engagement Session

“Fun fact: they are the first deaf couple we have the pleasure of working with. We have been communicating via email and couldn’t wait to meet them in person. Neither Al or I know sign language (other than I can finger spell the alphabet and know a few hand signs. We had found a photographer who was going to be our assistant that knows sign language but she ended up telling us she was no longer available. We were worried that we wouldn’t connect as well and so Al and I thought “well we will just be ourselves”! From their online questionnaire, we knew that Andrew is into Transformers and Marvel and we are way into both of those too! So I wore my Transformers “More than meets the eye” t-shirt and Al wore one of his comic t’s (he has a gazillion to choose from!)”

“And we made some big flash cards with some basic things like “kiss”, “look at each other”, etc and lastly we practiced our finger signing and learned some other basic signs. And we had a blast! They also had one of their bridesmaids with them who is also deaf. We just texted and wrote in a small notebook to easily communicate. It was so natural. They are so sweet and easy to work with! And despite the rain, they were just so chill. They didn’t let it bother them and went with whatever suggestions we made. We quickly changed our plans and left Cira Green to head over to 30th Street Station and the Cira Center. The communication flow was easy and seamless and the images amazing! We loved learning that even though we may have differences in how we normally communicate with others, we were able to communicate as if those differences weren’t there. We totally enjoyed capturing the love between Abigail and Andrew and can’t wait to photograph their wedding!”
